What is Gnocchi?
The first time I encountered gnocchi, I thought it was some kind of dumpling. However, I learned that gnocchi is actually a type of pasta. Gnocchi can also be made from soft dough dumplings. It can be made from semolina, egg, cheese, potatoes, wheat flour, cornmeal, and breadcrumbs among others.
There are different ways to cook gnocchi. You can serve them just like pasta with a thick sauce such as gorgonzola. Or you can just drizzle them with butter and sage. You can also cook gnocchi in a skillet with veggies and seafood, or make soup out of it.
If you are looking for a healthier version, try spinach gnocchi or cauliflower gnocchi. Spinach gnocchi is made with ricotta and spinach, while cauliflower gnocchi is made from cauliflower and is gluten-free.
